Biography

One of the finest Israeli Clarinetists of our age, Orit Orbach performs reguraly as soloist with major orchestras all over the world. She has appeared with Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the Hagen Symphony Orchestra, the Polish Philharmonic Orchestra, Warsaw, The San Francisco Sinfonietta, the Sofia Philharmonic, Bulgaria, The Jerusalem Symphony, The Israeli Chamber Orchestra and others.

In the summer of 1995 Orbach premiered the Clarinet Concerto by renowned Polish composer Krzystof Penderecki with Colorado Festival Orchestra. She also premiered Robert Starer’s Clarinet Concerto (recorded as well on CD).

Among Orbach’s several critically acclaimed CD recordings are Robert Starer’s “Kli Zemer” and Andre Hajdu’s “ Truat Melech”( Jewish Raphsody), both composed for Clarinet, Bass Clarinet and Orchestra. She also recorded the Mozart Concerto and Aharon Harlap Concerto, dedicated to her and many chamber recordings.

Orit participates in numerous music festivals all over the world including those in Marlboro, Tanglewood, Neustadt Festival, Colorado Festival, Canbara Festival, Thracia Summer Music Festival, Norwich Chamber Festival, Music by the Red Sea , Israel, where she is both a featured performer, Chamber Music coach and gives Master Classes. She performed with prominent musicians such as Shlomo Mintz, Yuri Bashmet, Michael Tree, Raphael Wallfisch, Pascal Roge, Schmuel Ashkenasi and David Soyer.

In addition to a busy Classical solo and chamber career, Orit is an expert in Jewish Music. She performed with many Jewish music bands, including the “ Maxwell Street Band”, The Hasha Musha Band, the Klarisma Band.
Orit also established “the Eve’s Women Band” with whom she performs across the globe in many well known festivals as the Oris Jazz Festival, London, the Roskilde Festival, Denmark, the International Jazz Festival in Johanesburg, the Beijing International Festival, the Brooklyn Festival, New York, the Berlin International Festival, the Jewish Festival, London, the Sefad Jewish Festival, Israel and others.
Orit is very often invited to perform Jewish music as soloist with orchestras and as chamber player. She premiers new pieces, combining contemporary and Jewish styles.

Orit performs master classes and interactive workshops, integrating unique Clarinet techniques, special Klezmer playing as well as workshops on the subject of performance anxiety and the art of performance. She performs those workshops in universities, summer festivals, conductors and teachers conferences as the Canbara University, Melburn College, San Francisco Conservatory, Marburg University, Germany, Herzelia Conservatory, Israel, the Zichron Conductors Conference, the Weismann Institute Festival, the National Youth Orchestra, Israel, the International Music Youth Festival, etc.

Orit Orbach was born in New York and immigrated to Israel at age of four. She received her Bachelor of Music at New England Conservatory, where she won both the chamber music and concerto competitions. She has a Masters degree from the Haifa University, where she also won the concerto competition. Among her teachers were Richard Lesser, Harold Wright and Robert Marcellus.
